Description:
The Convent of Jesus and Mary celebrated the 70th Republic Day of
the country on 25th January 2019. Students of class VII put up a
thought provoking and well rehearsed programme on the theme, 'Many
Languages, One People'. The Chief Guest, Ms. Nuzhat Hassan, IPS,
Special Commissioner, Delhi Police and a proud alumna graced the
occasion.
The programme began with the lighting of the lamp and a prayer
dance. The welcome address highlighted the resolution passed by the
UN General Assembly on 19th December, 2016 to proclaim the year
2019 as the International Year of Indigenous Languages. The aim is to
draw attention to the critical loss of indigenous languages and the
urgent need to preserve, revitalize and promote such languages at the
national and international levels. This was depicted through a power
point presentation. This was followed by a clipping to show the
importance of the national flag, insignia and anthem.
